Liz Secor, Founder and CEO
Elizabeth “Liz” Secor, CEO and founder of North Star HR, has over 25 years of experience in a variety of executive management and consulting roles spanning large and medium-sized corporations in multiple industries including services, manufacturing, healthcare, automotive, retail and utilities.
A Six Sigma Black Belt, Ms. Secor has a distinguished track record of assisting corporations to achieve better business results through the enhancement and alignment of their talent, processes and systems. She has successfully created or re-engineered various processes for over fifty businesses. She has also held a number of executive management positions in the Information Technology and Accounting and Finance industries, is an established executive coach and graduate of Coach University, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Prior to founding North Star HR, Ms. Secor was the Managing Director of Capital H Group in Michigan and Ohio, and responsible for managing and delivering a variety of human resources solutions including absence management services. It was during this time that she recognized an unfulfilled need for highly efficient, seamlessly integrated, on-site absence management services, which would significantly reduce absenteeism, improve customer satisfaction, and save employers significant time and costs.
Genine Sherwood, VP, Operations
Genine Sherwood, VP of Operations at North Star HR, has spent over 20 years in the insurance and claims industry. For the past decade, she has held a variety of roles specializing in Absence Management, Family Medical Leave (FMLA), Short Term and Long Term Disability, Worker’s Compensation, and various other claims management functions within union and non-union environments. She also has in-depth knowledge of Group and Individual Insurance Fair Claims Practices nationwide.
Certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), Ms. Sherwood has a long track record in operations, coaching, training, audits, team building and project management. She currently leads the on-site team at one of North Star HR’s largest client engagements.
Lisa Sey, Project Manager
Lisa Sey, Project Manager at North Star HR, has over 30 years of experience in the benefits field, with expertise in the areas of Workers’ Compensation, Short-Term disability, Family Medical Leave, Welfare plans and compliance. She has extensive experience in both union and non-union environments, and with tracking and reporting client metrics. Ms. Sey currently oversees the onsite Disability Management team for North Star HR’s largest client. She is also a licensed insurance adjuster for Workers Compensation in the State of Michigan.
Mary Doyle, Senior Consultant
Mary Doyle, Senior Consultant, is a seasoned HR executive with in-depth expertise in wellness programs, disabilities management, workers’ compensation, benefits, safety and medical services.
She has planned and delivered Wellness Programs, Health and Welfare Benefits, Qualified Plans, Time Off Programs, Employee Assistance Programs, Worker’s Compensation and Safety Programs for thousands of employees. She also has significant experience in negotiating vendor contracts, transitioning services from one provider to another and labor negotiations.
Ms. Doyle’s thirty years of experience in the Utilities Industry give her unique insights and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of absence management services within large employers in that industry.
